Dandupalya

Dandupalya is a village in the taluk of Hoskote in Karnataka, southern India. It lies near the Old Madras Road, National Highway 4, about 5 kilometres from the town of Hoskote and an hour's drive from Bangalore. It has become notorious for the activities of the Dandupalya gang which between about 1996 and 2001 committed murders, rapes and robberies in many parts of south India. The gang numbered about 30 men and women, some of whom lived in Dandupalya. They are thought to have killed more than 80 people. Sixteen death sentences and four sentences of life imprisonment have been given to members of the gang, while others have received shorter prison sentences.

In 2012 a Kannada film, Dandupalya, was made about the activities of the gang.

Dandupalya is a 2012 Indian Kannada-language crime film, starring Pooja Gandhi and Raghu Mukherjee in the leading roles. The plot is based on the real-life exploits of a notorious gang named ' Dandupalya'. The film was directed by Srinivasa Raju and produced by Girish and Prashanth under the Apple Blossom Creations banner. The film was later dubbed in Telugu as Dandupalyam and in Tamil as Karimedu and in Malayalam as Kuruthikalam. Which was a critical and commercial success in Karnataka and Andra Pradesh/Telangana, and became one of the highest-grossing films of 2012.
