Media Industry Technologist Certification (MITC) was created as an industry-based measurement process, through which a candidate could be certified as having role- and sector-specific knowledge. The intention of the certification was to provide a way in which certificands (those with the certification) could easily identify (to others) how they fit into ecoculture of the media industry. An important benefit from the process was that the certification would provide guidance to employers as to the likelihood of an individual's ability to work in an identified domain of the industry.
